Gabantin 300 mg capsule is an anticonvulsant drug that is used to treat epilepsy and neuropathic pain. Gabapentin 300 mg and Excipients q.s. are contained in each Gabantin 300 mg capsule.
Gabapentin binds to the alpha-2-delta-1 subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels with high affinity and appears to inhibit the action of alpha2delta subunits, reducing the density of presynaptic voltage-gated calcium channels and subsequent release of excitatory neurotransmitters. This mechanism is thought to relieve neuropathic pain and is also responsible for gabapentin's anti-epileptic action.
Gabantin 300 mg capsule is used to treat partial-onset seizures, peripheral neuropathic pains (long-term pain caused by nerve damage), and restless leg syndrome.
